About

When I started commuting to and from work on my bike, I began to notice the incredible amount of art on the streets and in the alleys of DC.  Murals, graffiti, stencils, wheat pastes and stickers – commemorating famous people and events; promoting bands, bars and political causes; spotlighting  stores and restaurants – were everywhere I looked:  on the walls of buildings beside empty lots, stuck to paper boxes, the backs of street sign and traffic light boxes, in parks and rec centers.  Sure, I’d seen Marilyn hovering above Woodley Park and the astronaut mural on Porter Street, heading out of the park — but I’d missed almost everything else.

When I realized how ephemeral this art really was, I decided to document what I saw on my bike and on drives in the car.  So this is it.
