The Real Borf

I couldn’t believe it when I saw these.  They’re on the same lamppost.  I love them — even more now that I read the Post article about the artist.  One thing he said was that the Borf thing saved his life.  Borf is about a friend who killed himself — I believe that’s him.  Anyhow, art saves lives.  That’s true.  And while this site hasn’t saved my life — it has made it much, much better.  I get so much satisfaction finding and documenting other people’s art, it’s kinda crazy.

Not sure if this is actually his — but it looks like it.  There’s an article in The Washington Post Magazine this weekend about him, his work, his sentence and what he’s doing now.  His tag and his art were everywhere for a while, before he was arrested — and incarcerated.  He was just a kid.  The whole thing was blown completely out of proportion.  The judge sounded like a complete asshole.

Borf tagged the big, wrought iron gate at my school in Columbia Heights, and I remember being really pleased.
