Sometimes the base of a lamp post is really a blank canvass. At least some creative person in Woodley Park thinks so. I would never have known these beauties existed along Connecticut Ave, had I not started riding my bike to work. They brighten my commute every day.

This gentleman was once so ubiquitous around town that the Post wrote a story about him. It might be a self-portrait, but I can’t recall the specifics. Whoever he is, he’s still really cool. I’ve only managed to see maybe four or five of these lately. This one is on Michigan Avenue, NE just across North Capitol.
